Should I purchase a franchise business or start my own business from scratch?

Whether you purchase a franchise business or start your own business, the level of success is inherently dependent on variables, such as the location, the systems used, and the entrepreneur’s own ability. Franchised business models have existing systems for marketing and operations that may allow the entrepreneur to avoid costly mistakes and may save them time while learning what others have already done.

What type of person makes a good franchisee?

Normally, it is a person that is interested in putting in the time and effort to run a business. A good franchisee is not different than any other type of business person in that they must be willing to take a risk to receive any reward.

How much does it cost to start a Jack of All Trades Handyman®?

This information is spelled out in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) as required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Our Estimated Franchise Start-Up Costs sheet indicates the cost to be $34,620 - $56,525. Actual costs vary depending on a variety of influences, such as payroll costs and the level of franchisee involvement in the day to day activities of the business.

How can I finance a portion of my start-up and operational costs?

Because individuals and their situations vary greatly, it is hard to determine which candidates qualify for help in financing. There are numerous options that can be discussed in further detail between potential franchisees and representatives of Jack of All Trades Handyman®.

Do I need to be a handyman to own a handyman franchise?

No! Similarly, you don’t need to be a cook to own a fast food franchise. We have a system in place for hiring and employing handymen to do the handyman portion of the work. Both businessmen and handyman alike can be ideal candidates to be a franchisee of a Jack of All Trades Handyman®.

Do I need a physical location or storefront?

No! We have set up this business to be fully functional from either a home or a storefront of an existing business location.

How will I market my Jack of All Trades Handyman® franchise?

Our proprietary marketing system is based upon a 4 level approach that will be required to be implemented by each franchisee. This includes a neighborhood campaign, referrals, location or visibility, and paid advertising.

How much are customers charged for our Jack of All Trades Handyman® services?

The corporate office of Jack of All Trades Handyman® has pre-priced the most common household and business repairs and services. Each ‘pricing list’ is input into the general data-base for each geographical location. Pricing can be adjusted per territory based on current market conditions.

How do I coordinate the incoming phone calls and appointments?

With Jack of All Trades Handyman®, all your incoming calls to your local phone number are automatically forwarded to the national call center. This allows each customer to speak directly to a live person and be treated the same no matter where their call originates.

Franchise businesses provide more than 11 million jobs, or 8.1% of the national private-sector work-force. Franchised businesses supply an annual payroll of $278.6 billion, or 5.3% of all private-sector payrolls in the United States.*
